Yogyakarta and Its Charms

I'm not kinda traveller who wandering many places in this universe. When I'm counting how many towns I've visited until now , my fingers could still count, only using my right hand, with the tumb left, means I only get four towns already visited: Palembang, Jakarta, Semarang, and Yogyakarta. If you ask me in wich town I spent shortest, that's Yogya. I only spent one day- one night there. And if you ask me, from those four towns which town I like the most, I'd like to say Yogyakarta. This town does impress me , even I only had one day there, and I had no one as the reason to go there, I just enjoyed my journey.

You may say it's too early to love Yogya since I only visited this town once and not for too-long, just one day. Places I visited in Yogya were only Malioboro and Prambanan Temple. But how could I be in love with this town and make me want to visit again? Maybe it could be called as love at the first arrival. Actually I had not-so-good trip when going to Yogya, I threw up in the bus, maybe because I was so tired and not in a good condition, or maybe because I'm too nerveous to have a walk in Yogya. Then, when I arrived in Yogya, suddenly I felt fresh, not dizzy as I usually feel after throwing up. There must be something in Yogya coz never I felt powerful and cheerful as I stepping my walk in Yogya.

Yogyakarta, you may agree if I say Yogyakarta is a beautiful town, with beautiful-hearted people -- kind and humble. People living in Yogya also vary from different tribes and culture, but they could blend together. They also have great interest in art which they concern to do, no wonder so many artist come from Yogya, whether bands, singers, writers, etc. When I wandering at Malioboro in the evening, I saw many paper-projects (shaped like a statue -- animals, doll, globe). At that time there's an event (I forgot the name of that event). From that case, I could see how Yogya be a place where many artist can explore their talent, and they grow fast and better and produce such a nice art that others could enjoy.

I couldn't deny that I was so tired since I only had one day in Yogya, but I wanted to get something here. And when the night came and time to take a rest, I got something. Yeah, I got "something" in my dream when I slept in a small hotel near Malioboro mall. "Keep your promise!" A person wearing red t-shirt shouted and got his car out. Hearing his shout, I did wanted to throw anything-that-I-could-throw, but I found nothing. "How could you say like that? That's you who have promises, isn't it?" My mind was busy thinking while that person approached me and smiled at me. Then, that person took me a ride and we're wandering together, and my mind couldn't stop questioning, "How could it be? How could it be?"

Yup, what I just wrote above was only a dream. I wondered why I should have such kinda dream which feel so real. I was in different town with that person, but why I dream of that person? Then I remember, that person even told me that he ever went to Yogya, as a place he ran away if I'm not mistaken. So, how could even Yogya conspire remembering me to the red t-shirt person?

Yogya and its charm, with  the dream I dream in Yogya -- I couldn't forget what things happened in Yogya. And I do miss Yogya and wish to come back soon, because I left "something" there, on the pillow and the bed that led me to my dream, that involved him. Why should involve that dream and that person? Hey, it's already midnight. Stop questioning and go to bed.

Note: actually this post presented to Yogyakarta's Birthday on 7 October. But it's okay, not too late to say: "Happy 257th birthday, dear Yogya. See you very soon."
